        Bed Sheets

Most hotels would prefer high density bed sheets, in another word, the more threadcounts the sheets have in one square inch, the thinner the yarns is, the better the quality is, however, the more expensive the sheets are.
Shrinkage is natural characteristic of textile. Normal shrinkage of cotton bed sheets are 5% in warp and 3% in weft. Yarn is in a state of high tense during weaving; yarn will relax and tends to recover during washing. It will not shrink further as the extension would have been recovered after fist wash.. Shrinkage is the most prominent in cotton bed sheets as compared to bed sheets made from other materials such as ployester.

Bias weft is another important characteristic of cotton bed sheets. The finished cloth from the loom has no bias weft. Bias happens during the after treatments which are bleaching and setting. Due to the uneven stretching to cloth, warp yarn and weft yarn will not be in a perfect right angle after bleaching and setting treatment. Bias weft could be controlled in 3% by an advanced after treatment machine. Afterwards, the remaining 3% could be treated by hand.
We found the best composition is 80% cotton and 20% polyester. This composition has retained the best chatacteristices of cotton and the strength of polyesyter which making it easy to maintain. Hotel bed sheets are washed very often and in time, the bed sheet will turn lighter in weight, thinner in yarn and yellowish in color. As polyester fiber is much tighter than cotton fiber, it does not detach so easily. Therefore, an 80/20 sheet can last longer than a 50/50 sheet because the cotton content will become less after many washes.
